2011 Season

Hey Everyone !!!

Open Grill Night 2011 is just around the corner and there are big changes in store for this year. We are looking for additional Open Grill Night hosts this year. If you would like to host please contact Dustin or Matt, or just email invite@opengrillnight.com

Here's how it works... Matt & Dustin will be opening up their house on the last Saturday of the month from May through September. Open Grill Night starts at 7PM. Everyone is invited, guest are not just welcomed but encouraged. Additional hosts are encouraged to sign up to host Open Grill Night so we can get together more than once per month.

Everyone is asked to bring a contribution for the grill such as burgers, sausages, chicken, etc. Just enough for yourself then it can be made up special for you or contributed to pot-luck for all to share. Everyone is also asked to bring either an appetizer, side or desert to share pot-luck style.

Matt & Dustin usually start the event out with a party beverage, other hosts may do something different - check the blog or invite for weekly specifics. Anyone who would like something special should bring the beverage of their choice.

To be added to the list please send an email to Invite@OpenGillNight.com.

Open Grill Night goes to the Velodrome

Our September 11th Open Grill Night will be be another field trip. Please join us at 6:00PM at the Dick Lane Velodrome for an exciting night of bike racing.

Experience the thrill of the two-man Madison, comparable to tag-team on bike, where teammates exchange postions into the action at 40 mph using the dangerous Madison hand sling.

When the Dick Lane Velodrome was first built, it was one of only two in the United States. Constructed in 1974, the Dick Lane Velodrome was inspired by a group of residents and City officials that visited the Munich Olympics. Located eight miles south of downtown Atlanta, the Dick Lane Velodrome is a 1/5 of a mile and 36° banked concrete track for bicycle racing, set in Sumner park in a residential part of beautiful historic East Point. Dick Lane is the only velodrome in the world with a green space that contains a large oak tree and a creek running through the in-field [2]. The City of East Point owns the velodrome and has a long-term partnership with the EPVA to manage the Dick Lane Velodrome, and continue its use as one of the premier facilities of its kind. The East Point Velodrome Association, Inc. (EPVA), is a 100% volunteer-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation, care and growth of the Dick Lane Velodrome.

Since there will be full service concessions serving sandwiches, snacks and deserts there will be no pre-race festivities at Matt & Dustin's house. Everyone should meet at the Velodrome, a map is below.
